My advice: try it first with ipmasq.deb, it is a really nice package. It lets you easily set up a basic nat gateway. Once you get it working with ipmasq, you can always change to your homebrew setup. And if it doesn't work with ipmasq either, well, submit a bug against ipmasq (after you had rtfm that comes with the package of course). Another advantage of ipmasq is that if you read the scripts, then that is a sort of howto in its own right. :-) And it should of course work out of the box. At least that is my experience.
