That suggests that the mouse is connected to the serial port, not the ps2 port. Sure enough it shouldn't work with /dev/psaux then. Or did you mean to say that you tried it both with a ps2 mouse and with a different serial mouse? But to hang your whole machine? Perhaps it is just Xwindows that freezes (maybe only for a minute or so). There were some ps2 keyboard problems with kernels below 2.2.19 IIRC, so it would be worth a try to install a newer kernel than the one that came with the installer (2.2.17?) > I see that my port PS/2 is recognize. Does anyone You probably mean that the kernel prints a message at boot time, indicated that it found the ps2 port controller chip in your system and that it activated a driver for it.
