laptop instillation via a PCMICA cd rom

I recently bought a copy of Debian GNU/linux 2.2 r3 official 6 cd set, and 
want to get it working on my laptop, a IBM thinkpad 560E with a external 
floppy drive and a PCMICA LG CD-ROM CRD-8520B.  I can boot into the debian 
setup from 'install\boot.bat' but I can't get it to see my cd-rom drive, so 
as to install the kernal.

Can you help me?
