At one stage there were optimized libc6 packages available (libc6-i686 et al) which put the optimized libraries in /lib/i686 and /usr/lib/i686, but they were removed as they broke various things for hard-to-diagnose reasons - I remember libsafe as being one of them. -- Colin Watson [EMAIL PROTECTED]
