My system doesn't recognize ttyS0 (which makes it difficult to synch my Palm Pilot). I'm running Debian 2.2.r3 (Potato) on a Dell Inspirion 7500 with a PCMCIA modem card on /dev/ttyS2. I'm at a loss on what to do from here. The information I've been able to gather so far is as follows:
bash-2.03$ setserial /dev/ttyS0 /dev/ttyS0, UART: unknown, Port: 0x03f8, IRQ: 4 bash-2.03$ setserial /dev/ttyS1 /dev/ttyS1, UART: unknown, Port: 0x02f8, IRQ: 3 blackie:/home/dwheeler# setserial /dev/ttyS2 /dev/ttyS2, UART: 16550A, Port: 0x03e8, IRQ: 3 blackie:/home/dwheeler# setserial /dev/ttyS3 /dev/ttyS3, UART: unknown, Port: 0x02e8, IRQ: 3 blackie:/home/dwheeler# ls -l /dev/ttyS* crw-rw-rw- 1 root dialout 4, 64 Feb 24 15:03 /dev/ttyS0 crw-rw-rw- 1 root dialout 4, 65 Nov 30 2000 /dev/ttyS1 crw-r--r-- 1 root dialout 4, 66 May 31 07:13 /dev/ttyS2 crw-rw---- 1 root dialout 4, 67 Nov 30 2000 /dev/ttyS3 blackie:/home/dwheeler# cat /etc/serial.conf|egrep -v '^#' /dev/ttyS0 uart 16550A port 0x03f8 irq 4 baud_base 115200 spd_normal skip_test /dev/ttyS1 uart 16550A port 0x02f8 irq 3 baud_base 115200 spd_normal skip_test pcmcia blackie:/home/dwheeler# ls -l /dev/modem lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 10 May 31 07:05 /dev/modem -> /dev/ttyS2 blackie:/home/dwheeler# Any help would be greatly appreciated.
