This is what I do if I were you: 1. If PCI, then run "lspci -v" to find out what it is. 2. Find largest and most complicated chip on NIC and read fine prints on it. 3. Serch google for that hardware vender. Let's suppose Lite-on seems key word, then Goto kernel source and cd to /drivers/net/ grep * -ie "Lite-on" Yep I have tulip for this baby. Put tulip into /etc/modules for next reboot. Activate it by "insmod tulip".
