This might not be the best place to ask this, but...

I have a Viewsonic P815 monitor with a built-in USB hub in the base, and
I seem to have problems using devices connected to it. I have problems
in both Win98 and Debian, though I seem to have a little better luck in
98.

The devices behave erraticly through the hub--they sometimes work fine,
sometimes sorta work and then stop responding, or just don't work at
all. But, if I connect them directly to the motherboard, they always
work just fine.

So, I'm thinking the hub is just crappy and I should get a new one.
But, I've read USB troubleshooting (non-linux) stuff before, and often
they say to try connecting the device to the MB and bypass the hub. I'm
wondering, are USB hubs often troublesome, or is it just mine?

Does anyone have a trouble-free USB hub they could recommend to me?

Thanks,
Brian
