Good day Everyone

I am a new user with Debian and I have a question that I am sure has been
answered a thousand times. I hope the answer is Yes and not No :)

I have a generic internal K56Flex modem which uses COM4 under Win2k.

1. Is it possible to get this modem to work using Debian GNU/Linux 2.2?
or
2. Must I just go and buy an external modem?

If the answer is No to question 1, which external modem would you recommend so
that I can use it as an answering machine, such as you can do with Symantec
TalkWorks under Win2k. What software would I use under Debian to make it answer
the telephone?

Thank you
Hylton Clarke
