Help: Gnome and Sound

Hello all,
 
Thanks for reading this message. I am trying to configure event sounds on the gnome control center,
but it does not sound anything. I am able to use the XMMS, which works alright, but for example, when I try to  use the grecord I get a message that the sound system is busy (all other sound applications are closed). It has allready worked, but when I booted the machine iy stoped.
 
I am using the enlightenment w.m., and when I tryed to enable the sound on the menus, I get a mask saying that the sound were installed, but not able to connect to esound, and again disabeled.
 
I checked on dselect, and esound is installed.
 
Any idea how to solve it?
