Unidentified subject!

Hello and good day.  I am having a hard time installing my drivers for the 
internet on my Debian linux os.  I am new to this all, and was wondering 
what a step by step guide would be to installing the internet drivers and 
the Xwindows.  I have a @home At&T cable modem with my Windows 98.  Is there 
any help?!?!?
