The bell: You can use a script with the echo $'\a'. I did the following #bell # make the iteration length as desired or put in another line after the echo with # a call to another bell but with a different name. I did a recursive call and the bell # continued and then a note came up "out of system resources". I control c'd out. for I in 1 2 ...... do echo $ '\a' done Hope this rings your bell, John
