If you hit ^Z you suspend wvdial.  Unless you then type "bg" wvdial
*isn't active* and you may not have Internet connectivity.  I don't
know wvdial, so that may or may not be true with this particular
tool.

Why not run wvdial in one VT and lynx in another?
