Hi, I think you're a little vague about what level you want these books on or what you need to accomplish, but I'd suggest:
Linux, 2nd Edition, by Michael Koffler (published by Addison-Wesley) as one of my favorite Linux introductions as it goes to great pains to explain not only linux (and its installation), but also the most common user programs (emacs, vi, latex, tex, gimp, X, kde, gnome, etc.). It gives information for Debian, RedHat and Suse. Surprisingly, while I have many O'Reilly books that I think are great, their general Linux intros, IMHO, are not memorable. You might also want Unix System Administration Handbook 3rd Edition by Nemeth, etal (published by Prentice Hall). The rest depends upon what you want to do: apache, dns/bind, sendmail/exim/postfix, mod_perl/php/zope/openacs, etc. Hope this help, Daniel PS For the future, you'll probably get more responses if you post a subject to your email and wrap your lines at 72 chars.
