Hi, I have run into a problem doing apt-get updates. While I don't think this a Debian problem directly, this appears to be the best place to start looking.
I don't think that the problem lies with apt. I have the problem on a Sparc box (SparcStation 1+) as well as an i386 (AMD K6-2/450). Here is what I get. I start the apt-get update, and get: Hit http://non-us.debian.org woody/non-US/non-free Sources Hit http://non-us.debian.org woody/non-US/non-free Release Err http://http.us.debian.org woody/main Packages Error reading from server Remote end closed connection After it fails, starting it again gives me: Hit http://non-us.debian.org woody/non-US/non-free Sources Hit http://non-us.debian.org woody/non-US/non-free Release Get:1 http://http.us.debian.org woody/main Packages [930kB] Err http://http.us.debian.org woody/main Release Bad header line 99% [1 woody/main gzip 983040] [Waiting for file] 95.0kB/s 0s gzip: stdin: invalid compressed data--format violated Err http://http.us.debian.org woody/main Packages Sub-process gzip returned an error code (1) Err http://http.us.debian.org woody/contrib Packages Bad header line Err http://http.us.debian.org woody/contrib Release Bad header line Err http://http.us.debian.org woody/non-free Packages Bad header line Hit http://http.us.debian.org woody/non-free Release Get:2 http://http.us.debian.org woody/main Sources [409kB] Err http://http.us.debian.org woody/main Sources Error reading from server Remote end closed connection Ign http://http.us.debian.org woody/main Release Any idea what is causing this?
