I was looking for a information to setup my whole computer but I could only find parts of it all all.
That is why I looked how there could be a way how user can share important information, without getting some questions asked 10000 times only because there is no real Nr 1. place that is easily to use. now my idea is, that there should be place, where you can just enter your system parts, and it will return a "user manual" just covering the parts your really need. And recently i had to learn more of php and mysql and I think it is possible to implement such a thing as a user manual generator: It would work like that: People who have already set up their system contribute information what they needed to get their system running. On the other side, someone can go through a menu, choose CPU, kind of bus system, usb-devices, printer, soundcard, network cards, isdn-card. after choosing all that, it generates a tex or html output, or just plain text. That part can be done easily with an databank in the background. (just an query) This way, the this manual would have everything the user should need to set up the system, but not more information than needed. It will not overload the poor newbie with too much information. In fact, it is one of the reasons, I switched late to debian because i just could not find the information, I really needed. i would like to here your opinion about such an idea. Thank you, mattHias
