i assume from your later messages you just letting the cronjob run, and your finding its ignoring the pruned paths. checking this on a potato box this does work. from /etc/cron.daily/find: === #! /bin/sh # # cron script to update the `find.codes' database. # # Written by Ian A. Murdock <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> and # Kevin Dalley <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> if [ -f /etc/updatedb.conf ]; then . /etc/updatedb.conf fi cd / && updatedb --localuser='nobody' 2>/dev/null === so it is sourcing updatedb.conf, now in mine i have: === # This file sets environment variables which are used by updatedb # filesystems which are pruned from updatedb database PRUNEFS="NFS nfs afs proc smbfs autofs auto iso9660 ncpfs coda" export PRUNEFS # paths which are pruned from updatedb database PRUNEPATHS="/tmp /usr/tmp /var/tmp /afs /amd /alex /var/spool" export PRUNEPATHS # netpaths which are added NETPATHS="" export NETPATHS === ok, now lets find something in /tmp: [EMAIL PROTECTED] eb]$ ls -lA /tmp total 30 drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 12288 Oct 10 00:44 lost+found -rw------- 1 root root 2097120 Jan 17 01:59 quota.group -rw------- 1 root root 2097120 Jan 17 01:59 quota.user drwx------ 2 root root 1024 Dec 15 08:07 root [EMAIL PROTECTED] eb]$ quota files look good: [EMAIL PROTECTED] eb]$ locate quota.user /home/quota.user /var/quota.user [EMAIL PROTECTED] eb]$ it didn't show anything for /tmp because its pruned. if this is not working on woody then you have found a bug and you should report it. -- Ethan Benson http://www.alaska.net/~erbenson/
