You can do it the other way round: remove the file before starting it, like rm ~/.netscape/lock 2> /dev/null netscape or maybe in a loop (inspired from the Kiosk-HOWTO) while true ; do if [ -f $HOME/.netscape/lock] ; then rm $HOME/.netscape/lock fi netscape done -- Andre
