Script error in xconfig

Hello,
I want to rebuild kernel for USB and soud sopport. And I have installed 
kernel-source-2.2.17. However, when I run "make xconfig", following 
error appears.

Error in startup script: invalid command name "button"
        while executing
"button.ref"
        (file "scritps/kconfig.tk" line 51)

What is the problem? Please advice me.
