BIND doesn't work af recomling new kernel

hi

I have compiled af new 2.2.17 kernel with firewall etc.
But my DNS/BIND does't work anymore!

I can user another nameserver, but I would prefer to run
my own DNS on the firewall!

So does compiling a new kernel affect DNS/BIND???
