To see if you actually have support for PPP, see if you see
anything like PPP reported when you type dmesg at a command
line.
If you don't, then try to do the following as root:
# depmod -a
# modprobe -k ppp
# dmesg | grep -i ppp
Does it generate any output? Report it to the list. More
details are also welcome.
