I am running debian unbstable, kernel 2.2.17 and I just installed postfix using the 'internet with smarthost' config option.
when I try to send an e-mail to non-local address it says that the network is unreachable, here's relevant part from syslog: ---------------------- syslog ------------------ ... Dec 9 00:52:24 jojda postfix/pickup[27820]: 657661D662: uid=1000 from=<erik> Dec 9 00:52:24 jojda postfix/cleanup[28412]: 657661D662: message-id=<[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Dec 9 00:52:24 jojda postfix/qmgr[27821]: 657661D662: from=<[EMAIL PROTECTED]>, size=294, nrcpt=1 (queue active) Dec 9 00:52:25 jojda postfix/smtp[28413]: connect to crick.fmed.uniba.sk[158.195.48.201]: Network is unreachable (port 25) Dec 9 00:52:25 jojda postfix/smtp[28413]: 657661D662: to=<[EMAIL PROTECTED]>, relay=none, delay=1, status=deferred (connect to crick.fmed.uniba.sk[158.195.48.201]: Network is unreachable) ----------------------- end of syslog --------------- I can ping crick, I can also telnet (using default telnet port) without problems but when I do telnet crick.fmed.uniba.sk 25 from command line I get the same message (network is unreachable, but only when using port 25). netscape mail agent works fine, it does not try to directly deliver mail but uses my ISP mail server. any ideas what's going on? erik
