Yes, but it's in a big file with a lot of extra data (whereas the output from --get-selections is just lines indicating package and state). I know that I can just pull the relevant bits with some regex work, but I wondered if there was a way to make dpkg read its data from some file other than the system's /var/lib/dpkg/status (assuming that's the file dpkg is using to get its data; I always assumed so).
