In my case i had to configuration files: /etc/X11/XF86Config and
/etc/X11/XF86Config-4.
I moved the config-4 out of the way with
mv /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 /etc/X11/XF86Config-4.old
it's not a very clever solution, but it worked for me.
