It's automated, but galeon does have a nice "Import Bookmarks" function that will actually merge bookmarks.xbel files. I generally scp .galeon/bookmarks.xbel from one machine to another then do the following in galeon: Bookmarks -> Edit Bookmarks -> File -> Import Bookmarks.
