I have always found it simplest to do this by way of the net. The rdate command contacts a time-date server and sets your system-clock accordingly. I don't know which servers are available in Germany, but for the US there is, for instance: rdate time.nist.gov Once you've done this, you can synchronize the system clock and the hardware clock with: hwclock --systohc I hope this is useful, Jim
