Since upgrading to dpkg 1.7.1, I have experienced several problems with apt-get dist-upgrade. A few times, I had to manually install and deinstall the downloaded packages, 'cause apt-get wasn't able to pull it off. Today, I get this error message: Fetched 14.5MB in 3m40s (65.8kB/s) E: Sub-process /usr/sbin/dpkg-preconfigure --apt recieved a segmentation fault. E: Failure running script /usr/sbin/dpkg-preconfigure --apt
After this, I just reran apt-get dist-upgrade, and after deinstalling sawfish and sawfish-gnome and helix-sweetpill, this happened: /home/wichert/sources/cvs/debian/x/dpkg-1.7.1/lib/dump.c:160: internal error `unknown verrel' E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg exited unexpectedly I don't know if this information can help some debugging, just thought I'd share it (I don't mind these bugs that much, it's not a mission critical box anyway) -- Many a wife thinks her husband is the world's greatest lover. But she can never catch him at it.
