I'm making slow progress setting up a Debian system on an M800LMR motherboard with onboard sound. The mobo documentation identifies the Linux driver module as cmpci. This loads happily and finds sound hardware, but can't write to it - as seen in this output from dmesg:
... cmpci: version v2.41-nomodem time 09:53:24 Jun 25 2000 cmpci: found CM8738 adapter at io 0xcc00 irq 9 ... cmpci: write: chip lockup? dmasz 2048 fragsz 512 count 2048 hwptr 173 swptr 173 cmpci: write: chip lockup? dmasz 2048 fragsz 512 count 2048 hwptr 1145 swptr 1145 I've been advised that irq 9 is bad news and I should change it to something else, but I don't know how to do that. Can anyone confirm that this is the problem, explain what to do or otherwise help me? I also have an internal Genius GM56PCI-L modem, which came with no info on Linux drivers at all. I've emailed the manufacturers but as yet had no reply. Can anyone identify the correct module and point me in the right direction for setting it up? Many thanks John -- John M Drake, Edinburgh.
