I'd probably jumper the modem for COM3/IRQ4. Hunt and poke through minicom until you can raise it. "ATH1" is a good test string -- should bring up a dial tone. Find the applicable Hayes command set for your modem, you're going to want to enable and crank up the speaker, as that's about the only diagnostic tool you've got. -- Karsten M.
