We see strange messages in the kernel log, the syslog, and the xconsole. They read Oct 11 11:26:18 wetap50 kernel: VM: do_try_to_free_pages failed for kswapd... This happens on several machines, all of which are running potato with a 2.2.17pre6 from the debian kernel source package. The machines are all k6II computers. On a new Athlon Thunderbird, we see these messages as well, just a lot more of them. We have a common NIS/NFS cluster with ~15 debian linux boxes (as above) and about 10 DEC Unix machines.
