It was not an upgrade. I did a new installation on another hard disk. But I have since my previous message found that even slink's zgv does not work on this system. I have also noticed something else that may give a clue: the green led on my WEN-screen turns orange when I run zgv and ask it to load an image. Is that a sign that my screen can be damaged by some wrong configuration? BTW tmview is part of the dvisgva package. It is actually a symlink to dvisvga. Johann -- J.H.
