err... have you installed the setserial package? it DOES run at every boot up. Place your configuration in /etc/serial.conf. If not, try "apt-get --purge remove setserial && apt-get install setserial" to do a complete (as in overwrite any old screwed up configuration) new install. -- "One disk to rule them all, One disk to find them.
