Running your own DNS and pointing everything to it may help, and/or add entries for those hosts that netscape tries to resolve to /etc/hosts (never tried it but worth a shot). beyond that..what version of netscape are you running? can you print out the contents of ps auxw | grep netscape to show the full command line? mine is:
