I think this means that there is a problem with the gnome-sessions and/or ORBit. I believe you get this when ORBit is not running. I had a messed up installation with a mix of devel and released GNOME packages, and got this exact same error. When I went back to the stable branch on everything it worked fine. Might me somewhere to look. tim
