That kinda helped, got me on the right path at least. Everything was working just fine, the real problem was that I didn't realize the Packages file had to be gzip'ed (Packages.gz). This was not the case when I used the Packages file off of a floppy, I'm not really sure why this is inconsistent between transfer methods and I don't recall seeing it officially documented. -- Matthew H.
