How to see hidden files/dirs

How do i get gnome/gtk apps to show me hidden files and dirs ?? ( i dont
mean gmc )
In most other apps its no problem but gtk/gnome no success thusfar :(.
Is there some system config
for this. ( havent found it yet ).
