afpd == AppleTalk Filing Protocol daemon -- exports parts of your filesystem so MacOS users can mount them as AppleShare volumes. it is responsible for littering .AppleDouble garbage all over the place. papd == Proprietary AppleTalk Printing daemon -- daemon that allows MacOS users to print to your machine, where the print requests are either sent proprietary AppleTalk printers or handed over to lpr. (`p' does not actually stand for `proprietary' but its still fits very well, as would `i' for `incompatible' ;-)) > > 2026 ?
