I installed a 3dfx voodoo 3 3000 video card last week, and ran xf86config to set
it up. Did startx, it failed. DUH: didn't change the xserver from svga. I
couldn't download the correct server because my isp was down. So, I reconfigured
xf86config back to my original (matrox mystique) card and started X without a
problem.

But I have a problem I can't find any clues on in the docs. All the menu items
and text in netscape, gnumeric, icewm, gnome-panel, gnome-card etc are VERY
large, almost like its a 640x480 resolution (I'm set to 1024x768). But, the
fonts are fine in wordperfect, staroffice, are fine.

I checked the FontPath in XF86Config, and the paths to the misc, 100dpi, and
75dpi fonts are correct and unscaled. The fonts are present in the directories
shown in FontPath.

Any suggested reading or clues would be appreciated. Thanks.
