I'ts mostly a matter of personal preference.
it's very consistant with SYSV ala SUN for locations, etc. The package management blows away all the other's I've seen. Take the best parts of redhat's rpm. make conflict resolution alot smarter and robust, and then add the ability to get updates, dependancies, etc from the web autiomatically. Debian's push for quality also helps make the boxes alot more stable.
