for i in *.wav; do lame -h $i; done lame will append a .mp3 to every file, so the files will have the name .wav.mp3. to avoid this use: for i in *.wav; do lame -h $i ${i%.wav}.mp3; done btw: the most recent version of lame i know of is 3.51 -- Hi!
