I believe that you should be able to use the touchpad as a mouse - just tell linux where it is. You won't get any of the benefits of 'Winders' driver like the edge scrolling and such, but it should work like any other mouse. I have a Cirque Touchpad (can't remember the exact model, but it is an older one) on /dev/psaux and it works. Works under BeOS too.
