Yes, XFree86 4.0 has definite benefits for Voodoo 3 owners---OpenGL in a window is cool. I went back to 3.3.6 (after using one of the 3.9 prereleases) just because the prerelease seemed a bit too unstable (and I wasn't really using GLX). For what it's worth, there's nothing surprising in my /proc/cpuinfo or /proc/interrupts: there's no special interrupt, and I've only got a single CPU.
