Didn't know about that one. Just discovered another trick: man asdf man aoeu ...switch between QWERTY and Dvorak keyboard layouts, in both console and X Windows. While this is a neat hack, it's a bit annoying to have a command which is simply a common random sequence of keypresses -- I discovered the commands when testing my keyboard configuration having just run kbdconfig and switching to a console window. Wanting to type something, I did "asdf"...and got a message that I was loading the Dvorak keymap. As root, natch. Granted it's nice to have a set of commands which uses the same keystroke pattern to munge and de-munge a keyboard, but this is happening a little too silently for my preferences. Moreover, the standard keymap which is substituted back in is different from the one specified in my console-tools configuration (I switch control and caps-lock). Poor design -- the tools should be integrated. -- Karsten M. Self (kmself@ix.netcom.com) What part of "Gestalt" don't you understand?
