Silly me, figured it out later after thinking about it. My old X server was patched to be able to use TrueType fonts, the one packaged in potato wasn't. Hence the X server was panicking when it couldn't load fonts (I really feel that this shouldn't be a critical error if it can't load all fonts). To solve the problem I simply removed the TrueType font dir from my /FontPath in etc/X11/XF86Config, and have since installed xfstt instead... now everything's hunky-dory, and mozilla is displaying pages with nice fonts.. ahhh :) -- loki [EMAIL PROTECTED] Dare I disturb the universe?
