loadkeys /usr/share/keymaps/i386/qwerty/us.kmap.gz You might also want to make this the same as /usr/share/keymaps/default.kmap.gz, and have the appropriate file(s) with the appropriate name(s) in /etc/kbd/ or /etc/console-tools point to this. -- Karsten M.
