Hi,

I recently bought a new 10/100Mb hub and I have problem running my
3c905B-Tx to 100bTx.

What happens is this:

[WinNT, Win98]
- All fine, link comes up at 100/full as per EEPROM autoselection.

[Linux (Debian potato (Dec 99) with 2.2.13 kernel)]
During boot and before modules are loaded, link shows up at 100/full
Module 3c59x is loaded, link goes down (fraction of second)
Media type is overided (i have options 3c59x options=12 in my
/etc/modules.conf)
Link comes back up at 10btx/half

when trying this with debug=6 in the options, it says something about
not finding a link beat at 100b-Tx / full, then 100b-Tx / half

as per my recollection of IEEE auto neg it is normal to go down to 10bTx
/Half as it is the next step in auto neg.

3c59x is version 0.99H

Both machines use 3c905B-Tx card, one is from Q2 1998 the other is on an
SMP machine and was bought in Q4 1999.

Same problem on both PC.

I also tried the 3com 3c90x.c driver (1.0.0) the result is even worse
(link goes down and never comes back up).

I will be playing with the 3c59x Version 0.99L sometime tonight.

Anyone got this solve before???

Thanks

Patrick H.
