enter the root password, then at the prompt type: e2fsck /dev/XXXX
where XXX is the name of the device that has the root filesystem. you may wanna run a e2fsck -c /dev/XXXX as well to check for bad blocks. if its an IBm or maxtor i would get the drive diagnostics software off their site as the errors it shows look to be rather serious. were you playing with hdparm ? you can damage your drive if you don't know what your doing(i've never gone near hdparm) nate On Wed, 23 Feb 2000, Cameron Matheson wrote: mathes >Hey everyone, mathes > mathes >I did a bad configuration in a program, and it completely locked up my mathes >computer.
