I just tried it, and get
hawkins:~# lsof /dev/hda2
lsof: can't determine system map file path
The only thing in the man page that seems to be vaguely relevantis
Linux 2.0.3[234] and 2.1.8[89] for Intel-based systems
--I have 2.0.36
I get the same result as user and as root.
