at least linux doesn´t use the bios´ detections, so you can use the whole harddisk with it, just remember that the partition you want to boot from has to be within the first 1024 cylinders, so you may want to partition you drive something like /dev/hda1 10 mb /boot /dev/hda2 x mb win95 and some partitions like swap, /, etc
