The SCSI chain is A> ID 0 - CD-ROM (terminated, end of cable) A> ID 3 - CD-RW (not teminated) A> ID 4 - SCSI controller (set to active termination) A> ID 5 - HP ScanJet (terminated) Remove the termination from the device(s) not physically at the end(s) of the SCSI chain. There must be exactly 2 terminators on a SCSI bus, at the ends. And they should be active terminators. It is normally better to use external active termination, instead of relying on the drive's internal termination. Also, make sure that your SCSI cables are as short as possible. Normally this means that the ScanJet should be at the end of the bus. It is unusual to have the controller not be one extreme of the numbers, ie: either 0 or 7. -- More Important Drivel from: Scott Henry <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> /\/\/\ http://reality.sgi.com/scotth/
