Well, perhaps a little more information would help here. There is
nothing wrong with "Debian" itself: I have an IDE CD-R and CD-RW
device, a USB mouse and keyboard, and I am able to use all of them at
the same time (like right now).
What kernel are you using? With the pre-built 2.4.18-{k7} kernel I've
had no trouble like this. Is there something in your logs (dmesg?)
that you see when you 'insmod ide-scsi' that hints at why USB died?
